Do you use varying focal lengths on the video shots? How were you able to achieve such a shallow depth of field with all that light flooding in? Did you lock exposure on a dark area first?

I used a bunch of different focal lengths. I was constantly spinning the lens between shots. I did in fact set my aperture on a darker area and lock it in.

I am about to purchase the T1I and this lens looks like it makes some great footage. Plus, there's quite a price difference betweem the two, so I just wanted to make sure before I bought. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, nice vid! can you explain how to lock the aperture in video mode with this camera please?

The AE lock button becomes the AF button in video mode. You can lock the exposure (not the aperture) with the ISO button which becomes the AE lock button in video mode. As far as I know, when the exposure is locked, both shutter speed and aperture won't change until a new exposure is set.
While using a manual lens, you can set the aperture on the lens and lock the shutter speed through the AE lock located on the ISO button....
