a same day edit shot with the 5d MKII.

converted the footage to an XDCAM EX codec (to save space over prorez) but kept it in 30P due to the amount of 5D footage we shot. conformed the footage to 29.97 from 30.00 in compressor to get audio sync.

we used an assortment of lenses for this one, including the 125, a couple 70-200 f2.8 lenses, a 100 macro, 50 f1.4, 24mm, 16-35 f2.8, 90mm tilt shift, 24-70 f2.8 - and a couple zoom h4n recorders to sync audio.

we are working on a 5d workflow tutorial include 24P options.

  • I love it guy's! Ill definetly be looking out for that MKII tutorial. I hope to pick up a couple this summer.

Was that a two or three person shoot?
  • stillmotion plus 6 months ago
this was shot by konrad and myself. unlike normal however, we had james who was there with our mentoring program who also helped out, and troy who is in training helping with some behind the scenes, some shooting, and some setting up. we showed up a felt like a filipino crew for sure.

  • I just have to know, how do you pull off that lens flare at 3:37-3:39 and get those streaks of light? Amazing! keep it up!
  • stillmotion plus 6 months ago
Jason - very very carefully. it was our own lighting, we removed the lens hood and used a long lens with the right angle.

Did u shoot the enture thing with 5D only? Its quite a risk isnt it? I guess u r combining the EX1 + 5D x 2. Realli nice stuff as usual.
  • stillmotion plus 6 months ago
these are mostly the 5D. we are using up to 3 per shoot. we do combine them with the vixia HF10 (HV20 replacement that is solid state) as well as the A1 quite often, but we are trying to go all 5D and run audio through the zoom H4n. is it a risk - i think it depends how you define a risk - sometimes you have to put more on the line to push your films further? i would question whether it isn't riskier to be apprehensive and not let your films progress.

The video is amazing. Simply amazing. The angles and shots lead me to believe it took several days of planning and a very understanding wedding party. Especially the shots in the church with the camera coming between the groom's men along the floor and following the bride and groom down the isle. It could be possibly distracting to what is supposedly a sacred occasion. A lot of that comes from a ton of practice or is very preplanned. Lots of time and lots of expense. It is so polished I can't help to think there were retakes and other extra efforts made. So in other words, almost too good to be true. Is it a real wedding or was it staged?

It is worthy of a Hollywood production and I expect to see you in the Academy Awards soon.
