Mommy's Special Day is a video about a young girl drawing a picture of all the fun things she and her mother do together. From making sandwiches and singing in the car to playing in the park and praying together at bed time, hopefully this video sparks a smile.

This is a tribute for all the great mothers out there, including my own. A very fun project with an adorable little actress full of life and sparkle.

Thanks to the Fuller family and my wife Nicole.

Gear: HMC150, Brevis, Nikon 85, FCP6

Johnny, what a sweet, sweet way to say Happy Mother's Day! Your wife must have shed a tear or three as she watched this. I have to admit you got me too with a slight watering of the retinas. There's nothing quite as precious in this world as our little ones.

    Thanks for sharing :-)

This is amazing. This is why cameras were invented! Really, if you take a look at the history of art, as soon as the technology is available enough (in terms of its price), people take it and start creating miracles. It happened with photography when Kodak camera was introduced and it is happening now with digital revolution going on. One might think that the digital revolution happened 10 years ago (or more) but I think it is happening right now. Only now we start to take the real advantage of the fact that we don't need film or tape anymore and that we can shoot hours and hours of material without any extra charge. This allows us to focus on small details of life which are beautifully captured on your video. Of course this could have been done 30 years ago too, but noone thought of it since everyone was occupied with the price of the film.

This is a really fine example of how beauty is in small details.

Excellent Johnny. This is what I have joined Vimeo to see.
As a short film it's lovely to watch. Music at times is a bit unoriginal but great camerawork, editing, light, and she is a little star. Now better it. Thats the challenge.

  • This is so heart-warming. The part that has them praying together really touches my heart and warmed my soul. It'll be my greatest joy to have a child as sensible as the little girl.

p/s: perhaps you can give the little girl some credit too. :)

    Hey Johnny,

This is really an inspiration to me.

The little girl really reminds me of my cousins daughter.

I am a film student myself and I really feel this is an inspiration to any budding film makers.

That video probably wasn't filmed in a country as messed up as Serbia, as your playgrounds for little kids don't have metal equipment on concrete! :)

Very well filmed, the slowmo of windy hair after car shots is probably the best, along with the wavy grapes.

This looks great man! You did such a wonderful job!

It seems all the HMC-150 + Brevis footage has amazing color. Did you do any grading or color work besides the obvious?

I love the slight grain from the adapter. The way the subject pops on the screen. It adds so much...

    Great job man!
  • Johnny Clark 2 years ago
Thanks BerryGood Video. To answer your question, the only 'grading' i did was to boost the highlights in several of the shots. The color that Panny cameras produce is great.
  • BerryGood Video 2 years ago
I agrea the color is great. I own 2x HMC-150s and I'm trying hard to like them ;) I'm getting my Brevis next Wednesday and I'm so excited!

How do you like the 85mm?

What a great piece of Art. Your work shows your love for your family. Excellent choice of music, nicely edited with care, great color and framing, and the sound was super, of course your daughters voice doesn't hurt the movie either. She is a doll. Oh, I was peeking at your profile photo while watching and I believe, I saw a lot of her Dad in her too!! Great work and a joy to watch.

What a wonderful video! I'm curious what editing software you used. In particular, how you got the sepia tone during the interviews and the slow-mo during the active sequences. (I presume those were from the editing software). And do share the song list, such a great collection!! I wish you were located in the NE and could film my kids.
