Master Wu Nanfang on Song Mountain

Master Wu Nanfang is a Kung Fu master and also a Zen master, who lives in the small town of Dengfeng, in Henan province, China. The town might be small, but there are more than 40 Kung Fu schools there, because the famous Shaolin temple is also there. It is amazing to see every square inch of space full of young boys in their red uniforms practising Kung Fu from 5 am - at least 40,000 of them!

Master Wu Nanfang's school is one of the smallest, and his students practice a more internal form of Kung Fu rather than the fighting and acrobatic forms. This short film shows him practicing some amazing forms, perched precariously on a mountain crag, and also doing some calligraphy, an art which uses the same skill and presence as Kung Fu itself.
