The lake that provides the scenery for a lot of my nature video production is stunningly beautiful. But it is nature interrupted. Canadians are lucky to have huge areas of wilderness, some of which can be reached from urban centres in little time - by car, SUV, truck, or plane. Once there, we switch to other motors - boats of incredible size and power on small lakes, brutal all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles. This little video illustrates the noisy intrusion of natural habitats, shattering any illusions of pristine nature we may hold while watching a sunset scence such as this. Undeservedly, Canada will extend its temperate land mass by around 100 km to the North as the result of global warming. I suppose the people of Canada will be more than happy to accommodate climate refugees on this "new" land, the kind of global leadership we and our government demonstrate with the forward-looking exploitation of tar sands in the West of the country. Oh Canada.
