Hannah was a tormented woman, faithful wife, worshiper of God, and committed mother. She was one of the two wives of Elkanah and was unable to have children but Elkanah's other wife, Pinninah, had several children. Elkanah loved Hannah but had children with Pinninah, who loved to torment Hannah about her barrenness. However, Hannah did not attempt to escape her situation. She took it to the Lord in prayer and asked Him to change her and her situation. God changed Hannah and her situation. He gave her a son whom she committed to the service of the Lord all the days of his life.
