Manta Rhei, 2012

Manta Rhei combines choreographed light with physical movement for a luminous kinetic sculpture, which blurs the boundaries between natural and artificial, animate and inanimate.
 Manta Rhei can perform a wide spectrum of patterns ranging from harmonious to more conflicting. The changing ‘behaviour’ evokes the impression of an animated object with
 a certain degree of autonomy.

Manta Rhei emerged from a joint exploration into ‘kinetic luminaires’ by the light fixture manufacturer Selux and ART+COM. It uses OLED technology. In 2012 Manta Rhei was exhibited at the Light+Building in Frankfurt am Main and at MADE, Berlin in 2013.
