Mary's Pence ESPERA Funds are community lending pools that are owned and managed entirely by local women's networks. With seed funding and administrative support from Mary's Pence, women in each community decide how to best use the funds in support of local income-generating projects.

This piece tells the story of the Concertacion de Mujeres in Suchitoto, El Salvador, one of the first sites to own and manage an ESPERA Fund in their community. Mary's Pence is also working with women in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Mexico to manage their own local ESPERA Funds.

Mary’s Pence is a grassroots organization that directs donated resources to small women's projects. Funding decisions are rooted in a Catholic tradition of social justice together with feminist values where all are welcome at the table.
