My name is Richardson Joseph I am a student at Chicago High School for the Arts. I came to this school to extend my knowledge on arts. I’ve had many teachers to help me along the way. I started drawing at a young age. I drew on anything that was blank walls, doors, tables, anything I could touch I drew or colored on it. My parents were always upset because every time someone cleaned the walls I ended up drawing on them. When I finally got my first sketch book I carried it around with me everywhere I went, essentially it was my life. When the pages were full, I drew on the pages in between drawings. I literally had drawings on top of drawings.
When I was a 7th grader I was introduced to a new type of art, Graphic design. I always had a gist of it but never really knew what it was. I always loved to sit in front of a computer all day and night manipulating and editing photos on software like Photobucket, and Picnik. Not knowing that I might potentially make a career out of it I stopped. During my sophomore year of high school, we started graphic design. I was kind of rusty because I haven’t done any photo editing but I quickly caught up with everything. After a few projects, I decided to make graphic design my major, and what I would major in high school and in college.
We went over basic graphic design in the first couple of weeks and then we began creating more with more advance software like, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, and Adobe Dreamweaver. My eyes were opened even wider when we were introduced to web design. Learning code is long and difficult but the more practice you have towards it the better at it you get. During the web page activities we would do, I grew attached to web design and added that to my list of dream professions that I would love to pursue a career in.
As a designer, I want to get a message out with ever piece I design, from competition, to perfection, or imperfection. I want my work to have some type of impact on the viewer, negative or positive. I will learn how to work with my mistakes.
I wanted to take this this class because i wanted to widen my skills with digital media, not only photography, and design i wanted to have a new eye to a different type of media .
Sometimes i design just for fun not necessarily to get a point across just to lay down what im thinking at the moment , i try to convey whats on my mind so the person thats looking at my work can feel what i feel .
