During the 2012 UTeach Annual Conference, Dr. Steve Cantrell, senior program officer for research and data at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, delivered the closing plenary speech, entitled “The MET Project: Building Trust in Teachers.” He argued for the importance of measuring teacher effectiveness in strengthening public support for public education and stressed the critical role that professional development must play.
