Here's an example of how Twitter can absolutely make your day.

I traveled to San Francisco from Phoenix just to see Mike Doughty in concert, and on the BART train to the show I sent a tweet from my cell phone:

@mikedoughtyyeah Luminous Girl tonight?

Midway through his first set, Doughty busted out this amazing solo performance of "Like a Luminous Girl."

Later in the show, somebody asked what his favorite song was off his second studio album, "Golden Delicious." He said at that moment it was "Luminous Girl," and that he liked this live performance better than the album version.

After the show, as he was selling copies of his concert-exclusive "Busking" album, I got the chance to ask what inspired him to play the song.

"Because some dude Twittered it at me."

"That was me!" I said.

"That's what I figured."
