another tree branch variation.. Thinking of a motion picture in relation to an an abstract painting. Sped up the branches overlap and make something like a Pollack painting.

I really like this Alex. Its like a stop motion of an abstract painting or something.

Do you make your own music for these films?
  • Alex Itin plus 2 years ago
    lately yes.
been sort of making the films to compose music to, or letting the films compose the music, or something.

I really like this idea. I feel like the more I look at it, the more I'm getting a 3d image of the tree, or somehow a more complete image of it than any one picture could do.

yeah the flash conversion seems to make the pace change where as in quicktime the frames run more smoothly over each other with persistence of vision. I kind of like how the flash works too though... so?

I'd love to go see your video work in person when it's exhibited. Are you planning? :)
  • Alex Itin plus 2 years ago
Well if I figure out how to make that happen, i'll be sure to invite you.

You're right -- we have Pollack's Blue Poles hanging in the Australian National Gallery in Canberra -- and you've got the Jackson Pollack feel down pat.

Oh, another thought has crossed my mind: from memory, Pollack's works are very aggressive in their use of vibrant colors - I wonder what message your film would convey if it wasn't monochrome?

In any event: I like your work!

you are really freaking me out because I did some shots like this on a bus trip to Massachusetts in B/W - another motion theme captured from the bus- I was also thinking of Pollock - but you did this very well. You really apply images to music fantastically. I'm wondering if you are my lost twin . LOL

I was starting to think the same thing. I do have memories of living in a red room with red velvet couches - just me and my sister staying up late smoking cigarettes and drinking champagne cocktails and talking about the great books. She loved it so much she stayed, I unfortunately was born.... sisterless.

no one should be sisterless I will be your virtual sister if you shall ever need one. LOL

Aw sweet- you did the music- very nice!

Yeah I was playing with garageband... I should do it again, but it's a lot of work to shoot and draw and edit these things... and I know nothing about music but what I like.

music is a lot of work - I do it myself- it's very time consuming if you don't have a sudden storm but video is like that too and I suppose all art for that matter. It's amazing how much people can do with garbage band - I'm so happy Apple threw it in there with macs so everyone can create music - so good for the soul (and we should all make music and sing after all before computers & TV people sat around the fire singing and jamming).

    too true.
I'm going to spend some time with your myspace page.
