This Atlas Moth landed in our back yard. By far the biggest insect I've ever seen. Beautiful thing. But it wasn't moving and it wasn't immediately apparent why. Since when does a moth bigger than my hand just stay put?

The story became more poignant when I read that these things only live one or two weeks as a moth. They don't even have a mouth to eat with. They live entirely off of fat reserves from their grub days. Such a beautiful creature with such limited time on earth just sitting still...
