On May 13, 2009 outside Charlottesville City Hall, Andrew Williams (I) announced his campaign for one of two seats on Charlottesville City Council. The general election will be held on November 3, 2009. Two of the five at-large seats on Charlottesville City Council will be on the ballot and they are currently held by Democrats Dave Norris and Julian Taliaferro who were both elected to their first terms in 2006. Norris and fellow Democrat Kristin Szakos received their party's nomination on May 9, 2009. Another independent, Bob Fenwick (I), launched his campaign for City Council on May 15, 2009.
