Artist and surfboard shaper, Bill Stewart, originally painted a wave mural on the Pacific Coast Highway building in the 1980s. It was a Malibu landmark for decades, and by the time American Apparel took over the building in 2009, the paint had faded and some spots had been vandalized. The company tracked Bill down and invited him back to Malibu to rework the mural, an invitation he accepted with great pleasure and creativity—recreating the original wave into the form of a supernatural double wave. This time, Bill returns to American Apparel to buff out some unfortunate graffiti. We love the mural and are looking forward to preserving it for decades to come.
