This storm was stationary for over 30 minutes about 10 miles away. My automatic exposures started at 3 seconds at the beginning and lengthened to 30 seconds by the end of this sequence as darkness fell. You will notice the acceleration of showers from left to right as a result of the longer and longer exposures. Each lightning bolt occurred every 30 seconds or so. Most of the time, there was only one bolt in the frame. The 1st and 3rd sequence was played back at 6 fps, the 2nd at 2 fps. Equivalent Focal Length = 127mm, ISO 200.
The 2nd clip shows a rapid late day buildup of thunderstorms. Very little rain or lightning was associated with this development and within an hour it had completely dissipated. 1 sec play = 2 minutes real time.
