The meals being eaten are favorite Cameroonian dishes, and more specifically Bamileke (the inhabitants of the Grasslands in western Cameroon) dishes, that have been transformed into nostalgic items due to my own displacement from my home country of Cameroon. This simple act of consuming food in its non-native environment creates a cultural dialogue with the viewer. The process of eating without company, amplifies the cultural isolation of first generation immigrants that I very much feel.
