Pottery can reveal innumerable facets about a civilization. This story is a step back in time, to the early 19th century, when America was young, yet undergoing a transition into the Industrial Age. It was filmed at Old Sturbridge Village, in Massachusetts, an amazing outdoor museum that affords visitors encounters with the way life was lived in a New England Village during this period. I filmed Dan Wilkinson, who works at OSV in various capacities. On this day, he is portraying Hervey Brooks, a potter. OSV acquired Brooks' pottery studio which was originally in Goshen, Connecticut and restored it so that visitors could see what life was like for a potter in the 1830's.
