Super lapsing work! I like watching the tiny people move about in the buildings and all the sky colour changes in the sequence that begins at 2m 40s.

    Cool choice of track too.

Brilliant and mesmerizing - Tokyo is the perfect stage for time lapse work.
I'm curious about your hybrid Virtual Dub and Vegas process - I also use both of those. Is final rendering in Vegas?
  • HaJooo 6 months ago
Just to latch onto Edvard's post, great work, wonderful to watch.
And I am curious as well about what bits and pieces you leave to Virtual Dub - any pointers would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks for sharing this.

OK, HaJoo - right now I'm using VDub for its deflicker filter for TL sequences that despite all my workarounds still have some variation in lighting, due to Canon lens issue. It's also good for deshake filter for video captures that aren't smooth enough... Then I do final processing / editing in Sony Vegas.

I open the jpeg sequence exported from Lightroom in Virtual Dub, filter it with deshaker then deflicker filters, then save it as an avi encoded with the lossless huffyuv codec. I then use Vegas to put sequences together, manage transitions, add music and export the final video as an MP4 file.

might sound like a dumb question but how do you work out exposure times? As the light changes so much.
  • Samuel Cockedey 6 months ago
Just set the aperture and let the camera do the rest!
  •
  • Chris Kennedy 6 months ago
Very well done. I take it you pulled the camera before the T-storm hit the city?
  • Samuel Cockedey 6 months ago
Actually it never hit... not a drop of rain...
