This is a call for recent (or imminent) time-lapse imagery of global sunrises from all across the Americas.

The imagery will be projected every night as part of the new lighting festival, Smart Light Sydney, opening next week on Tuesday 26th May and running for 3 weeks.

We are asking people from anywhere on mainland North and South America, or at sea to the east of South America, or immediately west of the Americas – all the areas where the sun rises in real time during the duration of the installation – to upload a substantial sequence of interval photography centred on the rising sun. The camera would ideally employ either an ultra-wide-angle fish-eye lens or a long telephoto lens, though other imagery is also welcomed.

At 18.00 on Tuesday 26th May, Weather Projection will commence transmission of the rest of the world.

The imagery will be played back on a prominent central outdoor location overlooking the entire city and will be duly credited with a subtitle.

Time is extremely short; the exhibition opens in a week! Please send us your sun.
