When remodeling the house (an ongoing series of projects) one of the old "tricks" was to use the newspaper to cover the boards in an attempt to thwart drafts, . Kind of an anemic effort , but then again oil was 5 cents a gallon and wood was the usual source of heat,,,.
So on a lot of the walls and floors are newspapers like this one from the teens and 20's .
