After serving for 12 years as a missionary the Lord shed His grace on Charo and saved her soul in 2004. She was hearing her husband, Paul Washer, preach on examining yourself. She came to realize, you either pass the tests in 1 John or you fail them, there is no middle ground.

I'll Be Honest, will you?

The 1st John test needs to be taken into context with the rest of the Bible; example: 1st Corinthians 12:3 is a good test for "salvation" too; because Ephesians 1:13 makes this possible after Romans 10:8-10, of course. I was "saved" during a "salvation prayer" at a Josh McDowel Crusade (Campus Crusade For Christ) for youth in 1980. It isn't the prayer which saves, of course, but it can be the means to do Romans 10:8-10 through faith. Even Jeff Noblit (Paul Washer's minister at Grace Life Church of the Shoals) doesn't dismiss the "sinner's prayer" as a means of action in fulfilling Romans 10:8-10. We really need to careful about coming down so hard on people expessing their informed saving faith through prayerful confessions/professions done in a church or crusade event. Like Paul Washer, my salvation was more about realizing Jesus loves me than conviction of sin; this came in later years through sanctification.

Charo testimony is wonderful; but I have to say that the changes in saved lives may take decades; some will be on "milk" for decades (for social reasons, lack of hearing good preaching, etc, saddly) .... resulting in very slow change.... though sanctification of the Holy Spirit and the providence of God to complete what He has started in us at the time of salvation.
