Downeast Race Weekend brought sailors together from many corners of the Eastern most coast of the US. Despite, rain fog and occasionally fickle breezes, everyone enjoyed a fun weekend of sailing in some of the most scenic areas imaginable. From Long Ledge at Mt Desert, sailors headed out towards Frenchboro. Then , with a massive flooding tide they raced the length of Blue Hill Bay to Hardwood and Bartlett's Island. Saturday brought a freshening breeze to assist the sailors through the Pond Island Passage to Hanus Ledge in Jericho Bay and finally into Brooklin with a sumptuous feast at the Wooden Boat School. Sunday brought a fresher breeze and a circumnavigation of Swan's Island through Toothacre Bay and on to Litlle Gott Island for a finish off Bass Harbor.

Mike Cook and Patrick Wilmerding handled all of the organization and rallying to get participation to increase by 100% over last year's numbers.
