Korma ambient lapse using a simplified Jitter patch.

I started recording right before I sautéed the onions, so there's a "pause" at the beginning.

I don't have the right drivers installed for my webcam, so the auto exposure kills the brights a bit.

And, most importantly, it's really tasty!

At this speed you can see the ingredients melting into each other. And the lens didn't steam up!

What does a Jitter patch do? Is it simply for capturing time-lapse?
  • Kyle McDonald 2 years ago
Surprisingly, it didn't steam up. The camera was right next to the fan, which is why it worked (I think).

Jitter patches are generally used for real-time video processing. cycling74.com/products/jitter

what is the patch like? Include any jit.wake in there?
  • Kyle McDonald 1 year ago
No jit.wake in this patch. The patch averages frames over a small period of time (say, 30 frames over 1 second) and then saves that average as one frame to an output video. Other versions of "ambient lapse" allow for these output frames to overlap in time, that's why I say this one is "simplified". See here for more: rpi.edu/~mcdonk/AmbientLapse
