1. ScreenLapse
Shot at 720x1280 30p with the Sony PMW-EX1 HD Camcorder in timelapse mode. These plastic signs are screenprinted by hand. As you can see, lots of caffeine makes this type of work go a lot faster. Note: no audio

That's really nice! I've started compiling a channel of EX1 material if you want to add anything else vimeo/ex1

Cool stuff. What program did you pull the footage into? We have the EX1 in an all Avid office where I work and we are having issues converting the files in to MXF's and importing them (which is a known problem).

Sony claims that Avid Xpress Pro HD will have support for it. I use Final Cut Pro. I upgraded to Final Cut 6 and it didn't have complete support for this camcorder's files until I did a software update to 6.02. I also had to download the latest XDCAM transfer software from Sony to enable importing into FCP.

Some good searching around online or a support call to Avid should get you fixed up I would think. Worse case you should be able to capture uncompressed footage via the SDI port if you're system can bring it in that way. Good Luck!

Yea that's what we're doing now, dubbing footage out of the SDI on to DVCPro tapes so we have a tape library to go off of. All of our Avids except for one are Media Composer, and the Xpress Pro machine is being used non-stop for the show we're currently working on. I haven't tried personally, but I think Xpress Pro had the same problem as Media Composer.

Also there was a seminar at Tekserve last week here in NYC and the representative from Sony said they hope to have a fix for Avid by NAB in April, so we'll see then.
