My grade of the John Brawley Blackmagic Cinema camera test files. Graded in DaVinci Resolve.
Overall - very impressed. The images came into Resolve looking very flat and with a magenta cast, but a quick primary correction pulled them straight back into line. The detail and colour depth are very impressive and the images have a filmic quality - much more so than the Canon C300 which I shot with recently.
I added an parallel node with a blur and a layer mixer node set to overlay then dialled back to around 75%. This crushed the blacks whilst adding some softness to the shadows. On the close up I did a skin smoothing beauty pass and also increased saturation of her eyes using a window.
I also like the fact that the images are 2400 x 1350 pixels. More than enough to re-rack a shot for HD and enough that you can add a 2.35:1 LB, like I did here, and you still have around 1000 pixels of HD resolution left in the picture area. Thats a massive step up from a DSLR.
