My business partner and wife, Imbi Medri-Kinnon and I produced the video Live Worship with Joseph Garlington & Covenant Church of Pittsburgh for Maranatha! Music back in the early 90's. (The hair styles, clothing and glasses reflect that era.) This song is a reworking of the Fanny Crosby Hymn, Pass Me Not Oh Gentle Saviour.
As Joseph Garlington says, this version is not a "slow hymn, geriatric kind of thing."
The song features John "Cannonball" Cannon on Hammond B3. John had a violin scholarship to the University of Michigan and did piano @ Julliard. He is an incredible classical organist and pianist. And not half bad on B3 :-)
The song also features Danny Shields on guitar and was produced by Danye Roaché who plays bass. The song was arranged by Danye, Cannonball and Joseph. The reprise at the end was spontaneous - not rehearsed and gives you an accurate take on what Worship was like at CCOP's Wood Street location back in the '90's. The building (as you can see from the cameras) was actually shaking during the recording of this song. It was wonderful!
The project was shot multi-camera - slaved to individual VTRs (all Betacam or Digital Betacam). The show was edited linearly (multiple VTRs) by Scott O'Brien and myself (Bill Kinnon).
Note: Music copyright belongs to Maranatha! Music. As co-owners of this video project with M!M, we assert our rights to show this song as an example of our work.
