Nakba Day, Nablus 2009
Nakba Day in Palestine (meaning day of 'catastrophe') is the annual commemoration of the 1948 occupation and mass exodus of the Palestinian people, also the 'anniversary of the creation of Israel.'
On May 15th, 2009, children with the Nablus-based organization Human Supporters, participated in a demonstration to connect Nakba Day to the effects of occupation on their daily lives.
A rare field trip to the outskirts of the northern Palestinian city, the children flew kites as an expression of freedom.
