The music I wrote in 2008 in part thinking of Koyaanisqatsi. The footage I collected this year - all from the rooftop of my workplace. Marrying the two together came by chance during the editing process - and it worked.

Shot on a Panasonic HVX200, in 1080 mode using the interval recording function. Rate of recording was 1 shot in every 4 or 8 fps. The soft focus look I added afterwards - it ain´t genuine tilt shift - but I did shoot with that in mind and have applied a filter made for that look.

WOW! So good, the blurred edges really make it look like a model miniature or diorama in stop motion something that's been constructed and manipulated.
the colors and everything too. did you just shoot it normally and then put filters over it? what filters did you use? excellent work! i subscribe to you sir.

the tilt shift effect, whether done with your gear or in post-production, works so well with stop motion that it's scary... it gives that feeling that it's completely CGI, yet you can see it's real footage. well done!

How did you obtain this "lego" effect. It seems like they are all toys.

Who cares 'real' tilt shift or not - what it does is give a very clean cartoony perspective

It's trendy, and i'm always trying to be very defensive against trendy stuff, but this video is fantastic :)
The way you've chosen the right shots and applied the music is great!

The soft focus is amazing. Bends the mind to have it seem so toy-like and yet it's real.

Wonderful how you pulled off this effect. (And how well it worked across all the scenes you used.) Great work.

Great stuff! I've been experimenting with this as well, shooting with an SLR and batch processing in Photoshop. Take a look at my Vimeo page by searching for Joshua Lake or 'Pomfret'.

I agree with you on the music thing -- it's amazing how much of an added impact it makes. Anyway, nice work, and keep shooting and posting!

I'm slightly confused about the interval recording and what exactly you were talking about. I have an HVX200 and I cannot shoot 4 or 8 frames per second while shooting 1080 so i'm a little confused about what your doing. Thanks
