This is the first showing of a work-in -progress at ARC Pasadena in May of 2012. The dance work "The Ghost in the House" uses the quintessential “haunted house” as depicted in the horror film genre to set an atmosphere for the deconstruction of the idea of house as protection and plunges the viewer into a world that reveals layers of historical and personal hauntings that reference mothers, pregnancy, miscarriage, birth and the female body as the container of both horrible and beautiful things. The dance also references Native American ghost dance rituals and culminates in a new take on the trance circle dance that is supposed to reunite the living with the spirits of the dead.
