Panasonic G1 Review
A video review of the Panasonic G1. I did the review as an example for B+H. Shot with Canon 5D Mark II and VIXIA HF10.

Also, which shots were from the Vixia?
To get the spinning shots, we put the G1 on a piece of whiteboard, on top of a big book, on top of a $4 lazy susan from Tap Plastics. We spun the whole thing by hand. The spinning shot is from the HF10. We did it with the 5D as well, but the G1 wasn't centered as well in that shot, so I went with the HF10 footage.
I edited the piece and did the color in Final Cut Express.
The second review is all natural light. The 5D was our main camera and we used the HF10 to shoot the tight shots of the G1 in my hand. I also shot the couple with the HF10, however it was rushed and I didn't do a proper manual white balance. Also didn't compensate for the available lighting with in-camera settings.
Since then I've learned a lot about the HF10. It's a very capable camera and with good lighting and audio you can produce top-quality video podcasts with it. But with the 17 Mbps AVCHD, there's not a lot of wiggle room to adjust the picture in post. You really need to get it dialed in perfectly when you shoot. I actually think it's a pretty good B-roll camera, especially when paired with the 5D or a pro HD cam like the Panasonic HPX170.
Cheers!
