This programme looks at “The Irish People” the newspaper of Sinn Fein the Workers Party - set up in 1973 and active until 1991. Among the guests are former editor of the paper from 1977-82, Padraig Yeates. This is the first episode in a four part series supported by the BCI.

Fascinating. But it is unfortunate that all speakers spoke of the Workers' party in the past tense. The Party, though small, still exists, is still involved in elections and campaigns, is growing and has it's own paper, Look Left. In some ways, I think, the Party is back where it was in the early seventies. And who can deny that in the political/economic situation in Ireland, workers need a party that reflects their class needs?
