Film Trouve, (found film) is a contemporary, innovative and spontaneous genre. Film Trouve and Megastar Asylum are the founding fathers. Though often imitated and copied, in keeping with the ethos, we are happy to allow the genre to spread without claiming exclusive ownership.
Film Trouve is based around combining eclectic stills, film and video footage, the everyday, the surreal, some from holidays or unknown places, using formats such as colour, Kodachrome, Ektachrome, Tri-X, black and white footage in a pastiche of images and emotions entwined with an original soundtrack produced by exponents of Film Trouve.
The founding principle of Film Trouvé is that any seemingly arbitrary image, film, video or stills, for example in a holiday, everyday or seemingly ordinary setting, are later reinterpreted and presented as a new thematic narrative to explore deeper, more conceptually the profound and inherent narratives that exist within each and every image and frame.
There are always underlying narratives to these images, often unknowingly, for the photographer and/or the subject.
Film Trouve exponents aim to uncover and present these inherently conscious, subconscious and/or unconscious visions and narratives that exist within every frame and every image.
Film Trouve, (Film found) is our new contemporary, genre. The Film finds you.
Combining our eclectic film and video clips and stills together with an original soundtrack.
This Video invites us to explore the hidden sides of ourselves, in an internal visit to the foreign country- our psyche. To be a tourist in our home town.
The Directors and Producers have produced many original soundtracks and by exploring new ways of combining contemporary art with contemporary music, have given birth to the artform they are calling FILM TROUVE.
This is part of the Film Trouvé oeuvre, our new contemporary artform, combining both original soundtracks and images into a short film.
this film is based around holiday stills, film and video footage taken in Venice, the black and white, aged ektachrome, kodachrome, TRiX and colour footage is a pastiche of images and emotions entwined with an original soundtrack of ours.
This film represents the melancholy passage of time in a hot and dry, beautiful midsummer.
Maybe the camera had hoped to capture the sense of a Garden of Eden.
The soundtrack amplifies the sense of longing, in the german language it is Sehnsucht, a combination of the longing for ‘something’. with poignancy and yet in a currently beautiful setting.
As the soundtrack ends. The final frames of the film, shot in Venice, bring the viewer back silently, to the theme of a holiday film.
This is in keeping with the Film Trouvé principles of using all kinds of images: profane or profound, everyday, or arbitrary images, to be reinterpreted at a later time to explore deeper, more conceptually the profound and inherent narratives.
