"No Loans Today" was filmed in the period following the 1992 riots in South Central Los Angeles. Centering on the ABC Loan Co., a twenty-five year old pawnshop/checkcashing outlet, the film follows the lives of several members of this community -- from business owners to gang members -- who've either chosen or been forced to remain there.

It was shot on 16mm by Federico Salsano, premiered in the 1995 Sundance Film Festival and was broadcast on PBS on the POV/The American Documentary series. It is distributed by First Run/Icarus Films.
