Preparing for Visitation
The Invitation
The Wedding Banquet
Missing your blessing
Press for the Goal

Matthew 22:1
And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son. And sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding: and they were not willing to come. Again he sent out other servants saying ‘Tell those who are invited’ “See I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and fattened cattle are killed and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”

This scripture talks about a father having a wedding banquet for his son. Notice that son and not daughter was mentioned. In this scripture it is the wedding banquet of the Lamb, Jesus. God has set up this banquet for the wedding of Jesus to us. He is telling us that there is no need to try to talk the Father out of this wedding banquet because it has already been prepared. Invitations have been sent out and the Father is just waiting on the R.S.V.P. This was actually talking about the coming of the LORD. For all of us to come and receive HIM; receive salvation. The good and the bad alike were invited. Everybody was an invited guest and whosoever wants to come let him come. Don’t you hate it when you don’t get invited to a party? Don’t you wonder why you weren’t invited? Well, in this case everyone IS invited. All you have to do is show up to receive your blessing.

This invitation is in preparation for what is coming next week. Starting next Sunday, Evangelist Jeff Taylor will be visiting us because we have been given prophetic words for our congregation. I feel honored that the Lord would choose us to carry out these prophecies. I don’t want us to blow it.

The promises of God are conditional. God is a sovereign God and when we come under the sovereignty of God it is a wonderful thing. For instance, countless invitations were sent out to the people of the land but they were too “busy” to answer the invitation. They felt they had more important things to do such as tend to the fields, labor in the stores, clean their homes. They would have loved to have gone but they were so tired. They forfeited. God still went on and had His banquet. It is not a good thing that when God says ‘I’m going to come and bless you’ and you aren’t there to receive it. If you don’t come and get it He will give it to someone else. The blessing will come nonetheless.

How many of you would truly like to see an outpouring like you or the world have never seen? This outpouring can be seen. If you have already planned and told your family that on next Sunday you are going to go to receive this blessing that is coming, then please make sure to come. Don’t say you’re going to do something, promise it, and not show up.

Philippians 3:13
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Press for the goal. The word press comes from the Greek word meaning to pursue, to follow after, or to go after something. Remember men when you were pursuing your wives? You understood pursuit. You did everything you could do to get what you wanted. How much more then do we need to seek the things of God? We are in a critical time to search, attain, and press for God. We can either be on the verge of one of the best revivals of our time or we can miss it. All we have to do is choose. Plan to be there and plan to pray for it. We have been planning and praying for a few weeks for this. We get tired and weary but the bible tells us what to do in these circumstances.

Galatians 6:9-10
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

We were given a promise of prophecy to come this spring or summer. Let me just say that 60 people were in our choir and a few weeks later we only had 25 people. We lost 35 excited people. How do you get so excited about doing something for God and a few weeks later it’s not there anymore? Decide in your heart that you are going to serve God no matter what. This is not a thing about feelings. This is one problem of the Pentecostal church. The problem is that too often we feel too much about feelings. If we feel it then it must be God’s word. Whether you feel it or not you need to be obedient to God’s word. God’s word is still God’s word.

I want to call some of you that left the ministry of choir, ushers, kid’s ministry or whatever ministry you were serving in to come back. Quick side track: Andy Griffith Show. There was an episode when there were some bad guys that were causing trouble in Mayberry. Andy went out and caught the bad guys and told Barney to keep an eye on them while they were in jail. Well, several times they escaped and Andy would catch them and tell Barney over and over again to watch them. Finally, Andy said, ‘Barney! How am I supposed to catch more bad guys if I have to keep catching the same bad guys?’ Please keep loving me even after I say this… I love to do the Lord’s work. I have a real heart for it. Andy Griffin was on to something here. I’m going to get pastor on you guys. How am I supposed to go out and get other folks when I have to keep trying to bring back the folks I already have? How do I get new people when I still spend time on the old people? We have to grow up! I shouldn’t have to call you to come to choir practice or an usher meeting. I shouldn’t have to keep trying to catch the old when I need to be catching the new. We should already be maturing in the things of God and do what God has called us to do so we can all go out and catch new people. But, we get tired…

Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Awesome principle. What you sow is what you reap. This principle usually used negatively can actually be used positively. You can also sow into God’s kingdom to reap His blessings.

Galatians 6:8
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Talk about the time of our life! What are we putting into our life? If we sow into the flesh then we sow destruction but if we sow into the Spirit we will reap a blessing. If we want God’s blessing we need to spend our life and time sowing into God’s kingdom. That’s the principle!! We can’t have a revival in this church if we are too busy doing something else. It is too important to not have God as our focus.

2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

We are earthen vessels. The problem is that we are leaky vessels. What I mean by that is that today is Sunday morning. I would hope that at the end of the Sunday service you leave and were inspired and we heard Jeff sing and we heard a message and are ready to go. It doesn’t even seem long but by Monday morning we are already leaking. By Wednesday- Thursday we are flat out leaked out. We need help.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Read God’s word everyday and pray and beyond that know who you are in Christ. If a day passes and you don’t do those things don’t allow the enemy to tell you that you are going to have a bad day because you didn’t pray or read God’s word. Don’t allow yourself to become religious or superstitious that if you don’t do those things you are doomed to have a bad day. That’s not true. Especially, if you have taken God’s word and put it in your heart, it’s already there in your heart. We should always try to do those things every day. It’s good to have that happen to you every day, but if a day should pass that you don’t have those things in your day don’t let the enemy tell you “Oh you are gonna have a bad day.” Praise the Lord!!

{Here the story of blind Barnabaeus}

What does Jesus ask blind Barnabaeus? This is one time in the bible where you can say ‘Well duh?! It’s blind Barnabaeus Jesus! He wants to be able to see again.’ Let me tell you Jesus asked him that just like He wants to ask you that because He wants you to engage with Him. He wants you to ask flat out for the things that you want. You think He didn’t know what blind Barnabaeus wanted? He could read the Pharisees minds and He can read yours but He wants you to just ask for what you want. He wants you to come before Him. He wants you to be a part of His blessing by being a part of the action. God is not going to bless you because you are pretty. He will bless you because you are crying out to Him. Lord bless me, restore me, restore my sight, my marriage. Lord restore my finances I pray for a miracle. Lord touch my children. He wants to hear from you. What do you want God to do? If you want a revival then you need to show up and say ‘Lord bring revival.’ You can say, “Duh! It’s supposed to happen.” No! It will be what you call it to be. Whatever we speak it to be. He will say, “What can I do for you?” When God asks what He can do for you go for it! Pull out your list and tell Him. Let Him know.

What are you praying about? What is dear to your heart? What is heavy on your heart? How many are praying for children that are just lost? Lots of hands. That is sad. I feel for you. Why do kids grow up? Why can’t they just stay babies? They just grow up and mess things up. No I’m just kidding. They want to break our hearts. They don’t want to listen because we are old and what do we know? I love to put it this way… Holy Spirit…arrest them. It’s fun to be a parent because the Holy Spirit will let you know about your kids. If you seek God He will keep you informed. There isn’t much you can do most of the time but all you can do is pray. When I say ‘all you can do’ I don’t mean to say that that is at the bottom of the list, in fact it’s actually at the top of the list. That is the best thing you can do. What a great thing it is to be able to pray for your kids. Maybe you are believing for your marriage. Maybe your marriage is having some love on the rocks.

Genesis 32:24-27
Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for he day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let you go until you bless me!”

You don’t have to go there but to paraphrase it; this is the story of the man Jacob that wrestles with the angel of God all night that the angel turns to him and says, “Who are you?!” The motive for Jacob to wrestle with the angel was that he wanted God’s blessing. He had the angel in a headlock and told him, “I’m not going to let you go until you give me my blessing!” The angel replied, “Again. Who are you?!” Because of the pressing for the blessing the angel told Jacob that he no longer would go by Jacob but now would go by the name Israel because he had struggled with man and God and overcame.

The problem with the church is that we get too tired and give up too easily. We don’t press, pursue, go after, or wrestle. I’m calling on Good Shepherd Family Bible Church to press, pursue, go after, and wrestle for the things of God. Go after the things that God has promised to us so we can leave all the excuses out. Lord we are ready, here, and want our blessings. Lord we want people to get saved, healed and delivered by the Spirit. So powerful the Spirit of God in our lives that wherever we go people will say, “Who are you?!” Reside Spirit in us. We do not want to be leaky vessels. We want to be plump of the Spirit like the Foster Farm chickens. We are ready. It starts now. Put yourself in a place where the bridegroom comes. Be ready to receive. He will take care of you. He will arrange all the days of your life.

There is a time for everything under the sun. Time for visitation. Lord use me and touch me so that I may be a blessing to someone else. I don’t know what tomorrow holds but I know Who holds tomorrow.
