A unique exhibition of 10 works to be held in the park of the island of Certosa, Venice, 4 to 7 June 2009, during the 53rd Venice Biennal of Visual Arts.
Dependtendency is an open-call to artists worldwide to present a work on the theme of cultural interdependence no later than 30 April 2009.
Works will be exhibited in the park of the island of Certosa, in the historic armoury making use of the old, brick and cement munitions storage depots. Isola della Certosa is a small island right infront of the Arsenale gates, and is easily reached by public boat-transport.
A panel of international art critics: Mark Gisbourne, Adrienne Goehler and Victoria Lu, have chosen the 10 works which will be exhibited in Venice, and another 10 selected works which will be published in the exhibition catalogue.
Inauguration and presentation of the exhibition catalogue, Saturday 6 June at 7.30 pm. There will be food, drinks, and a short, public discussion on the exhibition theme. From 9 pm live music until late...
For the inaugural evening a special free late night boat service will be made available by the Organiser, Associazione Culturale L'Albero Celeste, to all visitors to enable them to return to the Arsenale or Giardini areas.

N.B. Dependtendency is a special exhibition, organised separately from Celeste Prize 2009, which in no way interferes with applications and selections for Celeste Prize 2009. Artists can submit, if they wish, works for both Dependtendency by 30 April and Celeste Prize 2009 by 30 June.
