Filmed over two weeks in July 2008 this ten-minute video follows Antonis Lionis and his assistants as they create four mosaics: a miniature mosaic of St. Bartholomew and three larger pieces depicting Michael, Gabriel and Madonna and Child. Antonis Lionis’s Atelier is a short glimpse into the various stages of the making of a mosaic, and the extraordinary relationship that seems to exist between the artist and the work of art.

As a mosaicist, I enjoyed your presentation very much and was pleased to see an expose on the creative process of this beautiful art form. However, I did not expect my reaction to your words, "... and the extraordinary relationship that seems to exist between the artist and the work of art." Somewhere from deep down into my toes, emotions surfaced and I began to sob. Now, I do not ordinarily display such emotions; but, you have seen, understood and written about the unmistakable love affair that each artist participates in with each work! The works are "alive", speak to us and hopefully continue the conversation with each viewer after we have turned them over. This is what drives us "to do" again and again. Thank-you, Jacqueline.
