“They are using our government against us. They are capable of killing us.”

A west of Ireland community is under seige from Shell, Statoil and Marathon, backed by the Irish State. Shell are attempting to bring an offshore high pressure raw gas pipeline through an area of conservation close to local houses and into a major new gas refinery complex being built on unstable bog land.

Nothing like this exists anywhere else in the world.

For 10 years locals have non violently campaigned for a better solution. They have been ridiculed, slandered, beaten and jailed. Media distortion has been widespread.

On April 23rd 2009, local farmer & Goldman International Environmental Award Winner Willie Corduff was brutally attacked.

"There were no marks left on me...that's why I think they were professional people."

Willie had climbed under a truck to peacefully prevent illegal work by Shell in Glengad, due to the inaction of Gardaí.
