In the centre of a deserted storeroom in a Himalayan settlement sits a large box. Wrapped in brown paper, it is about to be taken on a journey past some of the highest mountains on Earth, along a route that will cross several centuries in just three days. Join Sonam as he drives the box to his home – in the ancient Himalayan kingdom of Zanskar – where its secret is finally revealed.

In the summer of 2007, Snowline travelled to the Indian Himalaya to shoot the short film, ‘Special Delivery’, a dramatisation based on a true story. Special Delivery is the account of a box belonging to a Zanskari that is taken on a journey past some of the highest mountains on Earth. The film follows the owner as he drives the box to his home, where its secret is revealed. It was shot on location in the Himalaya. It premiered at the Apple Store in London, and has been shown at film festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, including the Cannes Short Film Corner and the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.

A film by Alan Boardman, Paul Deegan and Seb Mankelow.
Run time: 13 mins
