Flamingo Blues [documentary]

Documentary showing the journey from rehearsals to stage of YPTC's 2007 film noir inspired musical "Flamingo Blues" a sultry, jazz-infused murder mystery set in Chicago in the summer of 1952, performed at the Unicorn Theatre, London. yptc.co.uk

The documentary, which showed intensive rehearsals, learning processes, publicity on the BBC and ITV and final week of the production; formed the core of an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the production which also included the trailers, production stills, dance routines and music.

PART 1: INTRODUCING YPTC AND FLAMINGO BLUES
The introducing section welcomes you to the world of YPTC; it's aims, ethos, players and coaches and explains the story and background of film noir musical "Flamingo Blues"

PART 2: SURPRISE AT CLARENCE HALL AND FUNDRAISING
As rehearsals for the show get under way, a special guest makes an appearance at Clarence Hall, the home of YPTC to lend some advice and possibly spot some talent. Fundraising is an essential part of YPTC; without which the productions cannot go ahead. Appearing on ITV's "Million Pound Giveaway" programme and raising money in Covent Garden, the experience is a challenge

PART 3: DANCE, MUSIC, VOICE AND ACTING
Covering the 4 disciplines that YPTC teaches- Dance, Music, Voice and Acting. The coaches and students talk about their experiences in these areas and how it applies to "Flamingo Blues"

PART 4: DESIGNING FLAMINGO BLUES AND PUBLICITY
The aesthetic quality of "Flamingo Blues" was important, as is the nature of the film noir medium, so dressing the show was key; involving costume, hair and makeup and the set. YPTC took many opportunities to publicise the show including produced a trailer and flyering in costume all over London.

PART 5: FINAL WEEK AT UNICORN THEATRE
It's the final week before the show and as the set is moved into the theatre, the cast find their new space and learn to adapt

PART 6: SHOWTIME AND CURTAIN DOWN
After the tense build up, the curtain rises and falls on the production; and the cast discuss their experiences both personal and professional as they reflect on the performance

PART 7: OUTTAKES
To accompany the credit roll, a selection of outtakes from the whole process
