People often ask me what led us to adopt our little girl, Carmen. My wife, Lana, had wanted to adopt children since she was very young. I, on the other hand, had little desire to adopt at all. Then, I went on a mission trip to Peru during the summer of 2005 and everything changed. This is a short story that captures my journey into Peru, where the orphan children opened my eyes to see another way and ultimately led me to adopt.
