This is a presentation I made as a brief introduction to what a GIS is, how it differs from "flat" maps that can be the result of much neogeography, and how one can start using a GIS in their humanities research.

It gets a little school-specific at the end, and video and audio fall a bit out of sync in places. But it should serve as an ok intro piece.

I'm excited about this kind of approach to the humanities, so if there are any questions, please shoot them my way!
