Leaving Split, is almost like leaving home. Something about that beautiful Dalmatian Coast reminds me of the Caribbean. It's like it's in my blood. Since Goga has family in both Zagreb and Belgrade they've become the 2 cities we always end up visiting. So the idea is to find out more about each city every time we come back. So... in heading back to Zagreb we wanted to explore a bit more and while getting lost in the streets we ended up wandering north.
Medvednica is the mountain in central Croatia, just north of Zagreb and marking the southern border of the historic region of Zagorje. The highest peak, at 1,035 m, is Sljeme. Most of the area is a nature park, a type of preservation lesser than a national park. The area of the park is 228.26 square kilometers and about 63% is covered with forest. The name Medvednica could be translated as "bear mountain" but is sometimes referred to as Sljeme which means summit.
