DJ Shadow is a light activated puppet, developed at an Internet of Things workshop run by University of Bristol (bris.ac.uk/ias/diary/2012/exploringtheinternetofthings-ws), which uses a light sensor to activate a motor and LEDs, using the Sensor Sweep example code from Arduino's free to download software (arduino.cc/en/Main/Software), a basic Arduino kit (£37) and some bits and bobs from Scrap Store. What's great about him is that dancing in front of him causes him to move, as your shadow affects the amount of light hitting the sensor, but as he moves, his movements also affect the amount of light, so he's a kind of self-propelling dancing partner. And he's got some serious moves....

The Object is the theme of a future @REACTHub Sandbox.
