Behold the all-knowing, wisdom-dispensing 'Fountain of Electrolytenment'. The world's first interactive water fountain to answer questions in real time.
Created by McCann-Erickson for the launch of Nestle Waters' brand Resource, the fountain appeared May 3-6 at The Grove outdoor mall in LA. Over the course of four days it attracted 30,000 visitors and sprayed over 17,000 messages. This magical fountain allowed users to queue up, ask a question and get an answer written in sheets of water that fall like a waterfall.
To create the piece, McCann teamed with industrial designer Steve Pevnick (Inventor of fountain-scripting technology), L.A. scenic arts shop Jet Sets, production designer Danny Rogers and UK sustainable design company Curb. A hidden team of improv actors and writers served as 'the brain' of the fountain, providing instantaneous answers in water form.
The Fountain is part of an integrated campaign promoting the brand's "It's more than Hydration, it's total Electrolytenment,' positioning. The effort also includes print, outdoor, digital and social media.
