Kevin, you might like this book on Information Design too (picked it up at SFMOMA): The Information Design Handbook by Jenn Visocky O'Grady.

Loving all the random shows, watching them through your Vimeo page as the video on Tim's website is too small :-) When can we get this as a old skool video podcast?

NOTE - Look at the top corner of Kevins book at 11.30

Whats up with the overlapping of the cupboard on the right from 11-30 to 11:35... weird
  • Glenn McElhose plus 5 months ago
Ha! Shit. Someone noticed. I was the only one running camera so I didn't see that I was in the shot during most of Kevin's portion. Thus, I cut out the top right portion and made a still of when I wasn't in there and pasted it onto the video where I was. Guess I didn't make it clean enough in spots.

haha good try though... easiest way out is to blame it on kevin for putting his book in your fix
  • Will Rogers 4 days ago
Yeah I noticed it mainly because of the book. So it's all Kevin's fault.

The overlapping cupboard at 11.30 was confusing. Whats hiding behind that overlay???

haha I know, strange, I have to ask Glenn

Even though I intend to look into most or all of those books, the best part by far was the discussion about jumping to the tree. Sadly, I have similar conversations with myself in my head.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

@Tim so, why Seneca over Marcus Aurelius?

*note* this is totally a friendly question and i realize it almost could sound snooty. im not; im just curious (as to why seneca of all stoics AND if you are in any way a classics dork because that would be cool :)

    Hi Pirata,

No problem. I find Marcus quite depressing and fragmented, as his notes weren't intended for publication. Seneca was a playwright and could teach via stories very effectively. He also wrote mostly in Latin vs. Greek, which Marcus did often, and this led to better translations into English.

    Hope that helps!

Great video! Although I have to ask, what was going on from 11:54 to 11:55?

Shunyru Suzuki did not found Zen Buddhism. According to Wikipedia, Zen Buddhism was founded in the 7th century C.E. and Shunyru Suzuki was born in 1904. I like that book too though!

Great selection, guys! I (re)discovered a few books to add to my shopping list, but "Getting Real" is definitely next in line!

BTW: did anyone else notice a "ghost" that's stealing laundry at 10:55? :)
  • Daniel 5 months ago
