Pop Goes Heritage is a documentary short that explores the various meanings and understandings attached to ideas of popular music heritage. Drawing on interviews with professionals working in the music and heritage industries, as well as archivists, historians and ‘DIY’ heritage practitioners, Pop Goes Heritage is intended to prompt discussion and debate around ideas of what popular music heritage is and highlights some of the different perspectives brought to bear on the subject. The film was produced as part of the UK research activities of POPID, a European collaborative project on popular music heritage and cultural memory funded by the Humanities in the European Research Area (2010-13). See liv.ac.uk/music/research/POPID/index.htm. The film was directed and edited by Les Roberts (liminoids.com).
