Episode 4. Our final destination, Herradura and Jacó. Herradura attracts tourists who wish to go sport fishing in a yacht and Jacó saw its tourism apogee decades ago. The locals tell us that Jacó used to be a place where families came to enjoy extended periods of time. Most if not all of the people we talked to, would mention the absurd levels of pollution, deaths, drugs, crime and prostitution. These days, Jacó is visited during the weekends by party goers from the capital. Foreigners come in for sex tourism and drugs. In general, a very superficial cosmopolitan environment exists. There are people from countless backgrounds. Jobs are unstable because of the sporadic influx of tourism and prices are high enough to be fearful of inflation…
