mt. evans / hollow deception, august 2007
6 months ago
t.betterton sends, mckenzie gets close.... i re-broke my ankle by pitching off this not tall block and landing on a little stone in the landing. as with the day i originally broke it, i taped it up, got very very very angry, and sent regardless, knowing that as soon as the swelling set in, i would be out of the climbing game for months.
note that this line was called holllow deception because the starting flake was thin and way hollow, yet it never broke. that was then. sometime in 2008, after 4 or more years of ascents, the flake finally snapped off. there is certainly enough crimp left to do the problem, it is just a bit more painful, difficult, and non-classic.
