THE SPACEBUSTER IS COMING TO DETROIT ON SEPT 21st - ONE NIGHT ONLY!!
The Spacebuster is a mobile inflatable structure designed by Raumlabor in 2009 and commissioned by Storefront for Art and Architecture to transform public spaces of all kinds into points for community gathering. Storefront for Art and Architecture and the Flint Public Art Project have kindly loaned the Spacebuster for this exhibition and project. Spacebuster will make stops in Braddock, Flint, and then Detroit. District VII, a Detroit studio focused on the diversity and amalgamation of Art and Technology, will occupy the Spacebuster structure with multiple video projections.
This past Saturday, the Spacebuster made a stop in Flint for the Flint Public Art Project. As shown in the video, District VII's Micho Detronik and Kristine Diven animated the inflatable structure with projection mappings and videos. These designers will utilize a similar approach for rogueHAA's Friday night event, The ArchiCULTURAL SHIFT. As an integral component to the Detroit Design Festival, this three-day event is comprised of an exhibition, panel discussion, and the SPACEBUSTER by Raumlabor installation. All events will occur at The MIES Storefront, 1565 East Lafayette, Detroit.
We hope to see you Friday in Detroit!
